This blog will go over two popular strap styles: curved end watch strap and straight-end (the standard). Continue reading to discover more about each option and determine which one is best for you.

Curved End Watch Strap Explained

A curved end strap watch strap features rounded ends that fit against the watch case. We recommend this style for watches such as such as F.P. Journe, Ming, MAD, etc.,  where there is a small gap between the case and strap, not too big nor too small, for the best fit

The main difference between curved and straight end straps lies in how they fit and the types of watches they’re best suited for. Curved end watch straps tend to offer greater comfort, as they follow the natural shape of the wrist and are often seen on more design-focused or fashion-forward timepieces.

On the other hand, straight end straps, by contrast, are more versatile; they can be paired with a wide variety of watch styles. Therefore, choosing the right strap comes down to personal preference and how it complements both the watch and the wearer’s style.

Benefits of Curved End

The primary benefit of a curved end watch strap is its more secure fit, as it’s less likely to come loose. Additionally, many find curved end straps more comfortable, since they sit closer and more naturally against the wrist.

Will It Fit My Watch?

We recommend using curved end straps only for round watches. For rectangular models like the Cartier Tank, we strongly advise against it. Not only does it create an awkward gap between the strap and the case, but the strap also clashes with the design, making the watch look unbalanced and asymmetrical.

As mentioned earlier, we recommend using curved-end straps with minimal gaps on round watches. Wearing curved end strap with barely any gaps for round watches can cause the strap to rub against the case and potentially leave scratches.

Conclusion

Curved end straps offer a comfortable fit and are ideal for round watches. While they enhance both the form of certain watches, they aren’t suitable for rectangular watches, where the fit and appearance can be compromised.
